Weston Park Cancer Charity’s annual “Walk as One” event is back at Endcliffe Park on Sunday 15th September to raise vital funds – and they need your help!
In honour of their daughter Felicity’s memory, one of the teams partaking in this year’s walk is led by Jackie and Stuart Towers. During 2017, Felicity heroically battled breast cancer in the loving care of Weston Park Cancer Centre. Following her initial treatment, Felicity rang the bell, but the cancer later returned and she spent her final days at Weston Park before transferring to St Luke’s Hospice, where she passed away seven days later.
“Felicity was such a positive person,” shared Jackie. “She loved her ‘Irregular Choice’ shoes and wore a different pair for each of her treatments to raise money for Cancer Research UK. Her dedication even caught the attention of the Sheffield Star. It would have been Felicity’s 40th Birthday on the 23rd of September, so it’s quite poignant to her school friends. It’s also mine and Stuart’s 50th wedding anniversary year, two celebrations that she will sadly miss.”
The event will feature a 10-mile, 4-mile and 2-mile walking route. Additionally, there will be food and drinks, children’s activities, live music and dance performances, as well as a reflective area for participants to honour loved ones affected by cancer.
