Award-winning, Sheffield-born actor Dominic West will receive an honorary degree from the University of Sheffield tomorrow (18 July) as part of this week’s graduation ceremonies.
West, who played Jimmy McNulty in the HBO true crime series The Wire, won a BAFTA Award for Best Actor after his portrayal of Fred West in Appropriate Adult in 2012. West has also been nominated for his performances in The Affair and The Hour.
Dominic was born and raised in Sheffield, where he went to Westbourne School in Broomhill before going to Eton College and university in Dublin. He has appeared in a number of theatre shows at the city’s Crucible Theatre, receiving glowing reviews for his performance in My Fair Lady.
The actor will be recognised for his outstanding acting achievements at the ceremony, which takes place tomorrow (18 July) at the University of Sheffield.
