With more than 6,000 England fans watching last night’s World Cup semi final on the giant screen, Devonshire Green needed an almighty clean up after the match.
Despite England crashing out of the World Cup in heartbreaking fashion, parts of the crowd stayed behind afterwards to tidy up the mess, including Lord Mayor Magid Magid.

The volunteer litter pickers have been praised for spontaneously tidying up the area. Head of city centre management at Sheffield city council Richard Eyre said: “Loads of volunteers helping litter pick on Devonshire Green. The result was poor but you still do the city proud. What a city and what great people.
“Love this city… thank you to the great people of Sheffield who stayed behind to help litter pick.”
Lord Mayor Magid Magid, who joined in with the efforts, added: “This is why I love Sheffield! Thanks to all the amazing people who helped clear up!”
