An old Toys R Us store in Sheffield could be redeveloped as a venue based on the ITV show Ninja Warrior under new plans submitted to the council this month.
Lambert Smith Hampton (LSH), on behalf of FI Real Estate Management, has submitted an application for a unit at Meadowhall Retail Park to be changing into an indoor adventure park, feturing a range of courses inspired by the popular ITV show.
According to the application, an estimated figure of 100,000 people would visit the venue per year with 25 full and part-time jobs being created in the process. ITV and Ninja Warrior UK have opened adventure parks in Gloucester, Stoke-on-Trent, Wigan and Cardiff so far.
Plans have also been submitted to open a similar park in Leicester, with that application saying: “The Ninja Warrior facility will be one of several facilities operating across the UK with indoor adventure parks located in Stoke-on-Trent, Wigan, Gloucester, Cardiff and an aqua park in Windsor. The indoor obstacle courses are aimed at all ages and abilities taking inspiration from ITV’s hit programme Ninja Warrior UK.
“Facilities such as this bring community benefits through inspiration to get active, more often, improving mental and physical wellbeing especially among younger generations.”
