Plans have been lodged for the latest phase of the redevelopment of Sheffield’s iconic Park Hill Estate, including 100 flats and a flagship arts and culture venue, Park Hill Art Space.
The fourth phase (out of five), includes 96 residential units developed by Urban Splash on the upper levels and S1 Artspace’s plans for Park Hill Art Space, including a 6,458 sq ft gallery, studio space for more than 50 artists, and education and community facilities.
The Park Hill Art Space has already secured grant support from the Heritage Lottery Fund and the Architectural Heritage Fund, estimating that the project will unlock £163m of economic impact over a 30-year period for the city.
A design and access statement submitted as part of the application said: “This diverse mixed-use proposal continues the regeneration of Park Hill as a major residential and civic part of Sheffield.
“The wider benefits of this application will be the opportunity for Park Hill to positively address Duke Street and the surrounding Manor Park ward, as well significantly contributing to Sheffield’s creative and visitor economy.”
