Orchard Square has revisited its foodie roots by creating a modern twist on the food court for 2020.

The new initiative, established by the centre owners LAP Plc, supports up and coming independent food entrepreneurs enabling them to set up a concept restaurant or bar within Orchard Square.

Many of the food vendors will be pop-up endeavors allowing them to test concepts. This project has enabled existing independent retailers such as the Street Food Chef to create an express Burritos concept with eco credentials for their Mexican food business, and the project has also facilitated the launch of new brands such as the Orchard Bierhalle; a German beer hall with a contemporary Sheffield vibe.

These vendors will be joined in the new year by another exciting new independent food retailer, as well as Fool’s Gold Pizza – a new venture from the founder of Lucky Fox on Division Street.

John Heller, CEO of LAP Plc talks about the developing project; “Sheffield is a vibrant and forward-thinking city. We are bringing a new and exciting food
offer into the city centre. We are also keen to support local, independent food entrepreneurs while providing a vibrant destination for foodies and shoppers in the heart of the city centre.”

Orchard Square and the new food market will continue to evolve over the coming months. The collaboration with local artist Will Rea, who is creating a new public art piece for Orchard Square, will also be completed in the new year.
