One of Newcastle’s most raucous nightspots is eyeing up a second home in Sheffield – and it’s picked one of our biggest party streets to do it.

Cosy Joe’s, the self-described ‘number one karaoke and party bar’ in the Toon, is hoping to open a new branch on West Street, taking over the former Olivia’s Townhouse site. The venue has stood empty since Olivia’s shut its doors late last year, but that could soon change if planning hurdles are cleared.

The bar is well-known up north for its chaotic energy – think four DJs, karaoke pods, and a stage where punters belt out bangers in front of a packed dancefloor. Directors have said they’re planning to bring that full experience to Sheffield, with a DJ-led party bar on the ground floor and private karaoke rooms upstairs.

Kroud Karaoke, which was born in Cosy Joe’s Newcastle, is set to be a key feature here too. They’re promising ‘all the fun and classic party tunes’ from across the decades – the sort of place where you could be singing the Spice Girls one minute and screaming Bon Jovi the next.

Plans have already been submitted to Sheffield Council, including changes to the building’s internal layout and signage. A licensing notice is currently pinned in the window, marking the next stage in the process.

There’s no confirmed opening date yet – the whole thing still depends on getting the paperwork over the line – but if all goes to plan, West Street could soon be adding another loud, late-night contender to its already busy scene.
