A new fitness, health and wellbeing event is heading to Sheffield next month, bringing together some of the city’s biggest names for a day of workouts, talks, taster sessions, food and more – with tickets costing just £3.

Motion Sheffield takes over Steamworks on Saturday 3 October, with the new drop-in event running from 10am–2.30pm.

Designed for anyone with an interest in fitness, health and wellbeing – whether they’re already fully immersed or simply fancy trying something new – the event will bring together around 30 exhibitors alongside a packed programme of activities throughout the day.

Sheffield fitness brands including R1SE, TRIB3, Play Padel and Nuffield Health are among those getting involved, alongside Fit Dads Podcast, 6Plus1 and a host of other local health, fitness and wellbeing businesses.

Things kick off at 10.15am with a 5K social run led by 6Plus1, before a series of ‘Hot Topic’ talks from 10.30am covering women in sport and exercise, running without breaking and recovery.

At midday, Fit Dads Podcast will host a live podcast with special guests, while yoga taster sessions begin from 12.30pm, including energising, restorative and sun salutation sessions.

There’ll be plenty happening away from the scheduled sessions, too. Visitors can have a bash on a pop-up padel court, check out the Recovery Hub – featuring compression boots and red light therapy – or simply explore the exhibitors dotted around Steamworks.

Motion Sheffield event organiser Gemma Lancaster told Exposed: “Motion Sheffield is the start of what I hope will become a much bigger movement across Sheffield and South Yorkshire.

“I wanted to kick things off by creating a welcoming, inclusive space where anyone can come along, discover something local and find new ways to lead a healthier, more active and ultimately happier lifestyle.

“And just as importantly, I’m really excited to support the incredible local businesses, organisations and people who are working towards those same goals.

“Plus, it’ll be super fun!”

Despite the fitness focus, you won’t need to spend four-and-a-half hours working up a sweat. Music, coffee and burrito bowls will also be on offer throughout the day, and the drop-in format means visitors can call in for an hour or stick around for the full event.

The wider aim behind Motion Sheffield is to bring the city’s health and fitness community together under one roof while encouraging more people to discover new ways of getting active and looking after their wellbeing.
