Earlier this week Exposed had the chance to take a look at Phase 3 of the Park Hill Project – Beton House – the £27m student flats which will open in September 2020.
The world famous Grade-II listed building, often the source of disagreement amongst city dwellers, has been refurbished in a project from specialist student accomodation developers Alumno to house 350 student bedrooms and a large communal space.
Care has been taken to remain true to the original design features, with flats being designed using a minimalist approach incorporating many of the building’s original features.
Sheffield’s first Poet Laureate Otis Mensah was commissioned to write a poem which will be displayed on Tablot Street entrance to the complex. Murals from fellow local artist Kid Acne also adorn walls around the refurbished buildings, following on from his recent exhibition with the resident gallery s1 Artspace.
