One of Sheffield’s most-loved coffee and natural wine hangouts is levelling up. Elm – already known for its laid-back charm and standout Bistro-Pop food nights – is officially launching Restaurant Elm, a bold new chapter in collaboration with acclaimed self-taught chef Nathan Wall.

Those Bistro-Pop evenings, where Nathan first teamed up with the Elm crew, were a smash – sold-out, vibey, and full of flavour. What started as a temporary kitchen fling quickly turned into something more serious. Now, the partnership is going permanent.

“We’re incredibly excited to take this next step with Nathan,” says Elm co-owner Jon Daughtry. “The Bistro-Pop events brought so much energy and joy to the space, and now we’re ready to offer something even more special with Restaurant Elm.”

Opening for dinner from 25 April, Restaurant Elm will offer a refined but playful tasting menu – either four or seven courses – from Wednesday through Saturday. It’s hyper-seasonal, ingredients-led, and full of bold ideas, with optional add-ons on the night if you’re feeling extra. Expect dishes that surprise, delight and seriously impress.

Chef Nathan Wall might not have come up the traditional cheffing route, but his reputation speaks for itself. Originally from the Kent coast, he moved to Derbyshire 15 years ago and has since become a major name on the region’s food scene. He cut his teeth in some of the best kitchens across South Yorkshire and Derbyshire before going solo, launching pop-ups that earned him a dedicated following.

Now, with Restaurant Elm, he’s stepping into a new era – one that combines creative freedom with a real sense of place. “We share a vision for food that’s exciting but honest,” says Nathan. “This isn’t about ego. It’s about giving people something memorable and delicious, without the fuss.”

By day, Elm keeps its original vibe alive. Coffee still takes centre stage, with a fresh new day menu curated by Nathan featuring small bites, grab-and-go options, and yes – the cinnamon buns are back.
