The A&S Leisure Group has invested £5.5 million to design and build The OEC, a brand new conference and events venue in Sheffield.
Development has begun on the £5.5 million pound structure, The OEC, which is scheduled to open this Autumn. The project is being lead by Sheffield-based WMA Architects, with company Harris CM handling the construction.
The multi-purpose venue, which will cater to up to 500 guests, will be situated at Napoleons Casino and Owlerton Sports Stadium. Once opened, the venue will be available to hire for weddings, conferences, large banquets, indoor sporting events and concerts.
Chief executive of A&S Leisure Group, Mark Allen, has said: “We’ve had a vision for this venue for some time now and we’re excited to finally get cracking with the build stage. With an excellent reputation for offering great leisure and hospitality at Owlerton Stadium and at our four Yorkshire casinos and restaurants, this multi-million pound development will only add to that.”
Gary Cook, renowned for his involvement at Chesterfield Football Club, has been selected as venue director. Speaking on this decision, Allen said: “I will help drive our vision forward making the OEC one of Yorkshire’s finest events and conference venues.”
