Ten years ago, a weekend packed full of music, markets, and more hit The Castlegate Quarter for the first time. Now, Sheffield’s oldest quarter will host its ninth edition. So, expect street food, live music, and crafty events to fill your calendar for the next two weekends at Castlegate Festival.
Castlegate festival will take place on the weekends 13-14 and 20-21 September, with events spanning locations including Victoria Quays, Harmony Works, Exchange Place Studios and National Videogame Museum.

The first weekend of the festival will see the return of the Quayside Market; the street food market in Victoria Quays. It features an array of different street food vendors, craft beer stalls and cocktails, set to a backdrop of live music and DJs. Highlights on the Saturday include a children’s craft event at Gallery 24/Two & Six Micropub and a Home Making Exhibition at Art Catalyst. On Sunday, get crafty and head down to Carousel Pint Studio for printmaking taster sessions, or Stitch and Spill embroidery workshops at Arts Catalyst.
The festival will then return the following weekend, with the annual Skateboard Jam and Exchange Street party occurring on Saturday from 2pm until 8:50pm.

The main event that weekend is the free-entry festival Turn Up the Volume. It will take place from 10:30pm on Saturday to 6am on Sunday morning at Plot 22 and Panke Social and consist of a wide range of artists. Head down to this showcase of genres such as electronic, dance, reggae, drum n bass, hip hop, classical and more.
Sunday 21 September highlights a very special fourth birthday edition of the Pollen Market on Grey to Green.
The event is a celebration of heritage and the arts in Castlegate and is jam-packed with events across these two weekends. Celebrate all things arts, music and food this September.
