One of the great things to happen in 2018, is that Bonfire night has fallen on Monday 5 November, which means that we can properly milk it out from Thursday to Monday night. A few people in the office even started on the toffee apples on Wednesday. It’s like Glastonbury basically. Anyway, here’s five bonfire and firework events over the next few days, some ticketed, some not. All great.

The Riverside’s annual bonfire
Saturday 3 November // Free
We’re just across the river from the Riverside and we’ve watched as the steady pile of wood down on the riverbank has grown over the course of the last month or two. There’s also the new beer garden (which in our recent Exposed Instagram poll, 80% of readers voted was ‘oreyt’ rather than ‘not oreyt’), and the promise of sparklers and a winter BBQ. Sound oreyt? Oreyt.

After initial teething troubles on their first night last year, the team behind the show – Events Collective – were widely applauded for taking feedback on-board and turning things around quickly to ensure the second night was an absolute stormer. This year, Illuminate is back with a three night extravaganza.

After Dark is back with another huge shindig at Don Valley Bowl. Giant bonfire  lit at 7.30pm, a funfair, street food stalls, fire spinners, face painting and then  the massive firework display at 9pm. Bob’s yer uncle. Sorted.
