The Vaults vintage shop on Abbeydale Road could be set for a refurbishment in the near future with the former HSBC bank the subject of a planning application.
DLP Planning, on behalf of Andy Mastin and Al Stephens, has submitted an application to turn the much-loved antiques and vintage store The Vaults into a tapas restaurant serving tapas and sharing platter board type dishes. Opening hours are proposed for 10:30am-midnight on Sunday until Wednesday and 10:30am to 1am Thursday to Saturday.
A planning statement said: “The development proposals will bring a vacant unit back into active use in a busy location, and it is considered that conditions relating to opening hours and cooking techniques could be attached to any planning permission to ensure that the development proposals do not create an adverse impact on the environment or on the living conditions of those in the surrounding area.”
The restaurant would also serve as a bar (with outdoor seating, no less), joining other new kids on the block Barrowboy and Dead Donkey and other established watering holes in the Broadfield, Picture House Social and the Gin Bar at Vintedge in what is becoming one of the city’s top spots for a good old supping spot.
