The new series of Doctor Who premiered on BBC 1 last night and to the excitement of, well, just us lot, the episode was set in Sheffield and featured some top-notch shout outs to the Steel City.
Tinsley Viaduct, Park Hill and Bramall Lane were given a fair bit of airtime on the show, but the shout outs to Sheffield from the cast were getting us reyt giddeh.
We don’t get aliens in Sheffield!
Without giving too much of the plot away, it’s certainly no spoiler that Doctor Who is likely to feature some sort of extraterrestrial content. As Jodie Whittaker, making her debut as the Thirteenth Doctor, crashes through the roof of a train heading for Grindleford and attempts to explain what’s happening, Bradley Walsh just weren’t up for having any of this alien talk. The train’s only other passenger, Karl, agrees: “I’m with him – we don’t get aliens in Sheffield!”
