Ponderosa, Friday
Entering Ponderosa for Twin Atlantic’s Main Stage performance was surprising; the longest queue in view was for the plentiful Mcflurries being served for those needing their ice-cream fix. Thankfully, Twin Atlantic’s energetic performance definitely brought in the numbers.
Starting off by blasting their guitar riffs with the more head-banging tunes from their most recent album, GLA, Twin Atlantic got the crowd on their feet with their brilliant renditions of ‘Whispers’ and ‘Valhalla’. The camera loved drummer Craig Kneale, as he expertly nailed each beat with a satisfying smile on his face while Sam McTrusty was fully committed to getting the crowd pumped throughout, singing his heart out during closing hit single ‘No Sleep’ and the fantastically heavy ‘Heart and Soul’.
It was a bit of a shame that they lost the crowd during their more melancholic middle, even going so far as saying “wakey wakey Sheffield!” But they clearly knew what the crowd needed as McTrusty belted out whatever energy he had left during their closing act, giving a camera-worthy crowd surf.
A fitting performance for what is looking to be an impressive Tramlines, Twin Atlantic deserve a good ol’ pat on the back.
