Two hugely exciting live acts, Tantz and Tankus the Henge, bring hard-hitting Balkan beats and a healthy dose of Gypsy Jazz to Yellow Arch Studios tomorrow night.
Tantz are a hard-hitting klezmer six-piece hailing from Leeds who’ve taken the world/roots music scene apart with their engaging performances all over the country. From tearing up the Brit Awards After Party to creating pogoing mosh pits at Bestival, Tantz treat every gig like their last, so don’t miss this 90 minute ride of pure musical maelstrom that encompasses thumping bass lines, frenetic violin fiddling and a whole load of dancing!
Tankus the Henge, fronted by the charismatic Jaz Delorean, are a London-based quintet who’ve played over 1000 shows across the globe, including an appearance at Glastonbury.
With plenty of wild showmanship, their sound incorporates rock, funk, blues, ska, roots and gypsy rhythm. Their live experience is truly something to behold.
‘… a virtual carnival of sound that’s high on energy and deep on soul. With copious helpings of R&B blues, funk, disco, Django, a dose of Dexy’s, a drop of Ray Davies and a pinch of Madness emerging throughout the eleven tracks – it’s an exciting mélange of sound.’ – Simon Wells, The Guardian
