Northern Exposure’s competition in support of raising money for The Children’s Hospital Charity with Lakefest, will see one band win the chance to play a prime time evening spot on the Gold stage at the festival on a day of their choosing.

After sending off their tracks and donations to the cause, five finalists have been selected to play in front of industry giants such as Alan McGee (you know that guy who signed a small town Mancunian band called Oasis) and many others yet TBA. The final will take place at The O2 Academy Sheffield on the 21st July and the winner will be crowned on the night.

As well as awarding the winning band a slot on the Gold Stage, Lakefest Is ensuring full festival access for the band plus one guest member each via the ‘VIP Gold marquee’. All the crew, light and sound technicians will be there ensuring the band look and sound their greatest too.

All the proceedings will be going to the local charity, The Children’s Hospital. They aim to support pioneering medical treatment and create a comfortable environment at the Sheffield Children’s Hospital. The money raised through donations will help fund lifesaving equipment, vital research and new facilities for special cases. Sheffield Children’s NHS Foundation Trust is one of four specialist NHS Trusts, providing a wide range of general and specialist services for the physical and mental health needs of children and young people up to the age of 16.

LakeFest’s cooperation in the competition is not their only contribution, as they are donating 5p for every pint sold and heavily discounted tickets with £20 from each purchase going to the charity. Over the years the festival has gone from strength to strength, winning a host of accolades, including ‘best UK small festival’ and now sees it’s 10th anniversary. BBC Introducing have been curating a stage for a number of years, now: making Lakefest the perfect springboard for new talent to perform. This year will feature performances from The Manic Street Preachers, Supergrass, The Reytons and a host of others.
