Julian Jones prepares to launch fourth solo album in Sheffield
Premiering his new album ‘Looking From Where I Stand’ – a cosmic blend of his usual country and indie-tinged tunes – Sheffield musician Julian Jones will be taking to the stage at the Greystones at 8pm, on Friday 9 July.
Performing the entirety of the new album alongside some of the city’s most talented local musicians, this is sure to be a treat for any of Julian’s long-time fans, or indeed anyone who favours the rustic and folky overtones typical of the Greystones.
Whilst Julian’s reputation as a country musician has taken him across the pond to tread the boards in Austin and even Nashville, it’s the indie-songwriter influence of his home, Sheffield, that defines his style.
So even if you’re not a fan of country music – and the thought of getting Dolly-ed up for a square dance sends shivers down your spine – then you shouldn’t overlook this local talent. True to his latest album’s title, this is Americana from a British perspective – a shepherd serenading cowboys. As Julian himself puts it, ‘I just like the hat and boots!’
Tickets are priced at £11 and are available here.
