Elephant Arch Records are collaborating with Launchpad to seek out talent from underrepresented artists in Sheffield, be it by race, nationality, gender, sexuality, or disability.
Ben Ward, co-founder of Elephant Arch Records told Exposed: “We believe that with the platform we have, it is important to do some good and support a diverse range of local talent”. Championing empowerment, the project aims to promote inclusivity in the music industry.
After a selection process by the company themselves, shortlisted applicants will be presented to a panel of judges including Magid Magid, Christian Carlisle (BBC Introducing), Rebecca Taylor (Self Esteem), and Finn Warman (Andro and Eve), during which a winner will be selected.
The eventual winner will gain a physical release contract with Elephant Arch Records to help kickstart their career, along with a 250×7” Eco Mix Vinyl, with a full-colour sleeve pressed by Breed Media. They will also win track mastering by Fat as Funk Mixing and Mastering, a PR campaign with digital and physical distribution by Elephant Arch Records, a 1-hour artist mentoring session and a photoshoot with Rachel Sherlock (@rachelanthiasherlock), as well as the chance to appear on a Q&A panel with the judges.
They are aiming to launch the competition on January 22nd and will accept track and audio clip submissions (2 maximum).
