Sheffield’s biggest monthly jazz night returns with announcements including Joe Armon-Jones & Blue Lab Beats.

The night makes a return from its summer break in September, welcoming bedroom jazz producers Porij from Manchester who play an energetic mash up of guitar and synth reminiscent of Snarky Puppy.

London jazz-hop outfit Blue Lab Beats make their way up in October. Their debut album ‘Xover’ was released this year to critical acclaim, featuring the likes of Nubya Garcia, Moses Boyd & Kojey Radical and is an instant classic for fans of hip-hop, downtempo and afrobeat.

November sees one of modern jazz’s most esteemed players and Brownswood acclaimed Joe Armon-Jones play his debut Sheffield show in support of his debut solo album ‘Starting Today’. As a player for Ezra Collective, Mr Jukes, Ata Kak and many more, his influence has played a critical part in shaping the emerging scene in London.

In January the night welcomes Jasmine from Leeds, better known as a member of jazz & afrobeat outfit Têtes de Pois, bringing together contemporary jazz with hip-hop influences. Jasmine will be joined by her ensemble including members of Franz Von, Skwid Ink and The Abstract Orchestra.

As ever their house bands FriNJE (Friday Night Jazz Ensemble) and AJB (A Jazz Band) make a nod to everything classic, alongside resident selector Zeeni who’ll be playing his regular mix of jazz, hip-hop beats and funk until the early hours.

Bungalows Jazz Night takes place at Bungalows & Bears once a month (excluding December) and is free entry.
