Barber Road bar Berlin Calling have announced a unique opportunity to catch local legend Porter Brook in a very intimate setting for a night of melodic techno with support from some of the best selectors in the area.
For the first time, Berlin Calling will be stripped of its tables and transformed into a low ceilinged, low capacity and atmospheric space for Berlin Calling 0001 on Saturday 25 February.
Supporting the Sheffield electronic music pioneer Porter Brook are Westfall, JP Rooney, and Wilf Bowyer. Also on the bill and organising the night is Ben Marks, who describes the event as ‘friendly, intimate, quality early evening entertainment with a focus on good bookings and programming, which doesn’t have to run into the wee hours or compete with larger club nights running later on in the day.’
Ben has roughly five-years’ experience DJing and has been a resident at Berlin Calling since he was just 15. He added: “I have a lot of love for the more chilled out, melodic side of the house and techno spectrum, and this is something not catered for particularly well in Sheffield. We’d like to create a space for this, and support DJs championing this sound.
“I have just launched, and tied this event into, [TARA] or Techno and Resonance Association (it’s a play on Tenants and Residents association!) – running minimalist and melodically focused house, techno and ambient nights, based out of Sheffield and The Peak District.
“The hope eventually is to have free entry with a British Mountaineering Council Card, British Caving Association Card, Climbing Wall Membership Card or IRATA Rope Access Card too in order to entice and give back to the thriving outdoor community of Sheffield which I love so dearly!”
The night will also see a full soundsystem installation and a range of imported draught beers available at the bar. Tickets are available from £4, and a very limited amount of tickets will be available on the door.
