Oh Susanna, Ben Savage & Hannah Sanders
Thursday 20th April / 8pm / £12
Suzie Ungerleider began performing as Oh Susanna in the mid 90s, crafting a persona that matched the timeless qualities of her music; sounds that drew from the deep well of early 20th century folk, country and blues yet rooted in her finely honed storytelling skills. Her well-crafted songs often tell stories of troubled souls, tales of longing and love, small town pains and joys, simple feelings and strong passions.
Nell Bryden
Sunday 23rd April / 8pm / £17
A darling of Radio 2, Nell has become the listeners favourite with her soaring vocals and accomplished songwriting. After a career that has seen many ups and downs she is to many the true definition of musical independence, dedicating her life to touring and producing material full of integrity and truth. Below is one of four stripped back, up close sessions to promote Nell’s new album, Bloom.
Lynne Hanson & The Good Intentions
Tuesday 25th April / 8pm / £12.50
Roots music, rough-around-the-edges folk, Canadian songwriter Lynne Hanson prefers “porch music with a little red dirt.” Lynne’s songs are like a favourite pair of jeans: faded and worn through in spots, with a bit of grit ground into the seams.
Sam Carter
Wednesday 26th April / 7.30pm / £10
A brilliant guitarist and master songwriter described by Jon Boden as “the finest English finger-picking guitarist of his generation”. Since being named Best Newcomer at the Radio 2 Folk Awards in 2010, he’s been stirring audiences all over the world, buoyed further by a well-received appearance on Later With Jools Hollands.
Keston Cobblers Club
Saturday 29th April / 8pm / £14
The evening show will be mainly standing – and bring your dancing shoes! As fans will know, the Cobblers’ music isn’t just uplifting: it’s often a full-on celebration. Their live shows are displays of genuine warmth, joy and dazzling musicianship. With brand new music on the way, the band continues to delight audiences across the country.
