Make No Bones – Junk Food Heaven

Located inside Church, a daring venture by Bring Me the Horizon frontman Oliver Sykes, Make No Bones will shatter your preconceptions that veganism has to be boring. Their saints and sinners menu gives visitors two types of meal to choose from: Healthy, nutritious options on the left and shameless junk food on the right.
Their menu is cosmopolitan and eclectic, serving dishes inspired by Japan, America, The Middle East, and fusions of all the above.

 

Dana Café – The Breakfast Place

214 Crookes
A tranquil café in the heart of Crookes, perfect to meet with friends over a cup of afternoon tea. They are most well known for their Full Veggie Breakfast (with eggs or scrambled tofu) and their grilled open sandwiches, with halloumi or tempeh bacon.

 

New Leaf – The Student’s Place

Student Union Building, Western Bank
Located in the Students Union building for the University of Sheffield, this innovative spot allows customers to choose from a wide range of fillings for their falafel wraps, from beetroot and broccoli to vegan sausage and tortilla chips. They also have 18 sauces to choose from, including pesto, sweet chilli and tomato and herb. If you’re not a student, don’t feel too blue. There are plenty of good falafel spots in Sheffield with vegan options such as Just Falafs (which is 100% vegan, halal and kosher) and Humpit.

 

Koko – The Fancy One

503 Ecclesall Rd, Sharrow
If you’re looking for something more high-end, you might want to consider Koko, a fine dining sushi experience with a substantial range of vegan and vegetarian options. You’ll be looking at around £25 for a main course and dessert, but with vegan sushi rolls incorporating jackfruit, avocado and lotus root, and desserts like caramelised pineapple and sticky rice, it may be worth shelling out for a special occasion.

 

Five Rivers Coffee Co – A Taste of Vietnam

215-219 Fulwood Rd or 72 – 101 Neepsend Ln.
Five Rivers has two sites in Sheffield. The original is a big orange building in Broomhill, the second is part of the cutlery works food hall in Kelham Island. This hidden gem aims to bring the organised chaos of Vietnamese street food to Sheffield. Most of the options on the menu are vegan friendly, and by supporting this restaurant you’ll be supporting charities that work to ameliorate the effects of Agent Orange in Vietnam, so your meal can be doubly ethical!

 

Maveli – The Curry House

223 Glossop Rd, Broomhall

Named after a benevolent ruler from Hindu mythology, this is a great spot for an affordable Indian meal. And with a substantial vegan and non-vegan menu, nobody will be left disappointed if you go there with your omnivore friends!

 

Pom Kitchen – The Healthy One

388 Sharrow Vale Rd, Sharrow

The first words that come to mind in describing Pom Kitchen are ‘bright’ and ‘fresh’. This is reflected in the interior design, with wall garden and neon light. Pom’s menu is all about fresh produce that looks good, tastes good and does good.

 

The Blue Moon Café – The One with the Skylight

This well-lit café has a daily changing chalkboard menu, consisting of two vegan and one vegetarian option. The most unique thing about the café, aside from its vegan menu is its beautiful lantern roof, which means that during the day you can bask in natural sunlight while you sip your coffee, and during the evening you can eat and drink under the stars. Not bad.

 

Bungalows & Bears – The Fire Station

Old Fire Station, 50 Division St
Located in a disused fire station, many of you will already know this pub as a great place for a beer, or for the events and performances that sometimes happen at night-time. What you may not know is that they also have a respectable food menu, including a range of vegan options. Bungalow and Bears is especially popular for their ‘Beyond Meat Burger’ a plant based patty on a linseed bun, topped with tobacco onions and melted Gouda alternative.

 

Ajanta’s Vegetarian – The Indian One

30 Abbeydale Rd, Nether Edge
All the meals in this vegetarian and vegan restaurant are freshly prepared to traditional Punjabi recipes. You should find the food here far more nutritious and less greasy than the usual fare from the takeaway.

 

The Great Gatsby – The Cosy Bar

73-75 Division St, Sheffield City Centre
Named for the classic novel about hedonism and excess, this bar is known to get lively on a Saturday night, and for having a wide array of cocktails, but Gatsby is not just a one trick pony. Descried on its website as a ‘veritable chameleon of a bar’ this is also a great place to sit down and tuck in to a sharing plate of szechuan fried aubergine or roti Sri Lankan stir fry with your friends.

 

Nottingham House – The Pie Place

Nottingham house is one of the best places to eat in Sheffield full stop, and is certainly the best place to get a pie. The menu changes regularly but always includes vegan and vegetarian options, such as the feta, artichoke and red pepper pie pictured above.

 

Dishi – The Asian One

238 Shalesmoor Road
Carefully crafted Asian dishes with a focus on cuisine from Japan, Thailand, China, Korea and Vietnam. Everything is vegan and the menu changes according to the season to ensure foods are as fresh and delicious as possible.

 

Pina – The Mexican One

3 Harvest Ln, Neepsend

Inspired by a trip to Mexico in 2016, the founders of this Mexican restaurant wanted to bring the authentic flavours of the country back to Sheffield.  Although not exclusively vegan, this restaurant has plenty of vegan choices, including their famous vegan tacos!

 

World Peace Café- The Charity

685-691 Ecclesall Rd, Sharrow

Staffed entirely by volunteers, with all proceeds going towards good causes, this small café aims to be a net good in the world. Its humble vegan menu includes a variety of light lunches and cakes.  And with its chilled out atmosphere and park views, this is the perfect place to hang out and unwind on a lazy Sunday afternoon.
