Much-loved Division Street coffee shop, Steam Yard, is marking its 10th anniversary with a week-long series of events and giveaways.
The festivities commenced yesterday (14th January) with an official Happy Birthday Steam Yard announcement on Sunday, and continues throughout the week with free coffee, free Kronuts, free brownie bites provided by Dough Boy Bakery, a big competition giveaway, surprise giveaways and exclusive commemorative merchandise by Sheffield Artist Tom J Newell all on offer.
Steam Yard founders, Matt Cottrill and Nick Pears, are taking the opportunity to express their gratitude to friends, family, staff, suppliers, and customers who have been integral to the coffee shop’s success over the past 10 years.
Co-founder of Steamyard, Matt Cottrill said: “I can’t believe it’s been 10 years! We didn’t open Steam Yard with a grand plan, to be honest, it was kind of a happy accident of things just coming together and it all somehow just worked out.
“Nick (Pears) and myself have been best friends for much longer than we’ve been coffee shop owners; it’s fun, exciting and rewarding while also flipping to the other side of impossibly difficult within a day.
“I know for a fact we wouldn’t have survived if it wasn’t for our friendship and passion for what we do. Regardless of what happens in the turbulent future and life Steam Yard has created something so very special with myself, our friends, family and everyone who’s visited us. Thank you for your support, honestly, it means more than you will ever know.”
From humble beginnings to becoming one of the most celebrated coffee shops in the UK, Steam Yard attributes its achievements to the continuous support of the Sheffield community.

- Monday 15th January 2023: a Steam Yard x Tom J Newell T-Shirt and Tote Bag giveaway. Plus a chance to win one of only 5 SY X Tom J Newell prints!
- Tuesday 16th January 2023: A BIG competition giveaway featuring gifts from Steam Yard, Caravan, Bullion Chocolate, Mahalo, Stores Supply, Fatso Chocolate and loads more!
- Wednesday 17th January 2023: The original Steve Macqueen Steam coffee and doughnut deal is back! For one day only, take you back to where Steam Yard found its humble beginnings with any coffee and a doughnut for just £3.50. Steamyard has 100 ring doughnuts available from long-time collaborators 4 Eyes Patisserie.
- Thursday 18th January 2024: Giveaways for “Coffee and Bake for Two” vouchers.
- Friday 19th January 2024: Free coffee day with Caravan and Minor Figures – As a thank you to Steam Yard’s loyal customers and the community, all regular coffees will be free!
- Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st January: A big thank you to everyone who celebrated with Steam Yard.
