Plans for New Era Square aka the new ‘Chinatown’ of Sheffield are going full steam ahead as Sheffield’s biggest and oldest Chinese supermarket KH Oriental are moving over this Autumn.

The authentic vibe of the store will be given a makeover with a much more sleek state-of-the-art design, by a Shanghai company.

A few images of the concepts have been released for the two-storey mega market, which will feature a wholesale cash and carry on the bottom floor.
KH Oriental
KH Oriental Food Company was established in 1976 when the Chen family opened the small grocery store on London Road. Since then, they moved into a much bigger premises on Boston Street before 789 Trading Ltd took over in 2012.

“The move of KH Oriental will be bittersweet, it’s where I spent the majority of my childhood so I will be sad to see the foundations of it go however I’m very excited for what’s to come in the new building,” says Kerre Chen, daughter of the former owners of KH Oriental.

The family still have strong ties with the business as Mrs.Chen continues to work there part-time.
