Sheffield’s first dive bar is open

West Street’s FirePit Rocks opened its doors to the public last month as punters from all over the city packed the venue.

FirePit Rocks owner Rick Bailey has spent the past few months renovating the FirePit BBQ venue into a unique dive bar which takes its inspiration from the US. He had help from his dad, Dez Bailey, who – along with brother Mick – were the presenters on the first ever rock show on MTV in the 1980s.

Rick Bailey said: “We wanted to create a venue with a totally relaxed atmosphere – almost the feel of your local in the city centre. We have amassed loads of sports and music memorabilia that adorn the walls. We will have regular DJs and will be screening major sporting fixtures.”

FirePit Rocks’ manager, Tom Lord, who was formerly at Leopold Square’s Bamboo Door, Division Street’s Great Gatsby and Revolucion de Cuba in Manchester, said: “FirePit Rocks will continue to serve up delicious BBQ food fresh from our in house smokers together with grilled meats straight from the FirePit for an amazing casual dining experience.”

Word has it that there’s a voucher on the front of the latest Exposed Magazine which may or may not get you a bucket of beers and wings for £10 – more on this as we have it!

You can find FirePit Rocks on 138 West Street. Stay in touch with its Facebook page here
