Plans have been submitted by the Sport Shack to expand on its Ecclesall Road site by opening another micro sports bar in Hillsborough.
The Ecclesall Road bar opened just three months ago after former Champs owner Danny Grayson teamed up with local businessman James Dobson. Of the initial opening, Danny Grayson said: “There is a niche in the market for this type of establishment, having owned Champs on Ecclesall Road for six years we found it hard to fill a big venue, the Sport Shack will be smaller but will focus on better atmosphere with our slogan being ‘small on size, big on atmosphere’. Watch this space, as this brand will be rolled out to more establishments in the near future.”
If plans are approved by the council, the Sport Shack will be rolled out to 12 Holme Lane, moving into the unit where wedding venue stylist shop Those Cherished Moments is, just around the corner from the Hillsborough Tap and a short walk from Sheffield Wednesday’s football ground.
According to the plans, the owners are looking to take the site on a 10 year lease, with Sport Shack “wanting to give a new concept micro bar to the area and give another experience to the visitors of this well established social area of Sheffield”.
