N’awww, Peddler is growing up fast, ain’t it? Four years ago this month, the first Peddler night market took place in a car park on Arundel Street. It had just a few street food vendors and a bar.
Now in its fourth year, Peddler is behemoth of an event. Taking place on the first weekend of every month, Sheffielders in their thousands head to Kelham Island and tuck into some of the UK’s top street food vendors. To celebrate this occasion, Peddler is “pushing the boundaries” of its Burton Road venue.
Heather Gilberthorpe, managing director of Peddler, told Exposed ahead of the weekend: “To celebrate the birthday, Peddler is expanding the site this month to make way for even more top-notch street food traders, live music and great craft beers on tap. It’s likely to be busy, so get down there early to avoid queues and to have the pick of lip-smacking street food dishes available!”
This weekend’s new traders include Bearded Taco, Belgian Waffle Tuk, Deckards, Fowl Play Chef’s Stack and the Thali Truck. On the bar, a trio of Yorkshire’s finest including Northern Monk, Magic Rock and Sheffield’s own Abbeydale Brewery will keep everyone’s thirsts quenched. Sheffield’s first poet laureate Otis Mensah will be stopping by too.
As usual, Peddler is free entry. Kicking off from 5pm this evening (5 October), the market is open til 11pm. Saturday’s bash opens at the earlier time of 2pm.
