You may have already heard but Sheffield has a new Vegan Café on the scene. Previously ‘Joni’s’, the business has undergone a rebirth and returned as ALT – set to be a hit amongst vegans and veggies alike.

In the below statement posted on the café’s Facebook site, the owners explained the decision behind moving on from the Joni brand.

Tomorrow at 10am the very first ALT. opens in Crookes and we can’t wait.

Sadly, it means we say goodbye to Joni, in to which we’ve poured our hearts over the last few years, as most of you already know.

We know lots of you are confused by the changes, we’ve had some messages asking why, and checking that we’re all okay.

The truth is, It’s been very difficult for us over the last year, as we came to terms with how unsustainable and damaging our business was. We’d built it around our products alone, and it was a whirlwind, but there wasn’t much time to stop and think about anything else.

We soon realised we had to change things and, bit by bit, we introduced new and more ethical products, and focused on minimising our waste and environmental impact.

Unfortunately, the business as it was had a limit to how much we could change and contribute. We had to let it go.

Thank you for all the continued support and for sticking with us!

Now, go and check out the guys at ALT. and let’s all do some good stuff together.

(P.S. No bad vibes.)

Head over to ALT at Crookes to enjoy a taste of vegan goodness for breakfast, dinner or tea. Serving everything from cakes and Biscoff cookies, to BBQ Jackfruit burgers between 10-8, the menu is a far cry from limp looking salads. With mains priced under a tenner, why not pop over to try out the newest place on Sheffield’s foodie scene.
