Copa Bar, a new independent cocktail lounge & bar, is set to open on Ecclesall Road this Autumn.

The two-storey venue promises customers a “premium drinking experience selling good quality wines, beers and cocktails”.

The new bar is to be situated opposite M&S, a few doors down from their Copa Caffé site, which opened its doors to the public a couple of weeks ago.

Alongside the arrangement of comfy indoor seating and bars on each floor, Copa Bar will have an outdoor courtyard seating area and serve up a wide-ranging summer food menu.

The bar is currently undergoing refurbishment and should be finished by autumn.

The name derives from the 1950s word ‘Copacetic’ meaning ‘everything’s great’, reflecting the brand’s ethos of providing customers with quality products in an enjoyable environment.

Joe Morris, Project Manager of Copa Bar, told Exposed: “People say ‘Copa as in Copacabana?’, but as long as everyone remembers the name, that’s all that matters.”

As well as a selection of premium wines and cocktails, customers can look forward to enjoying Beavertown beers, a selection of craft ales and traditional bar favourites available on draught.

The venue will offer a table ordering service through a bespoke app, which is currently in development and will be launched on open day.

There will be two floors containing separate bars and a DJ area.

Joe comments: “When people are sat in, they have time to choose a drink off the menu instead of walking up to the bar and panicking. This time increases bar sales and the product range that we can offer customers.”

“I think we’ll be able to bring so much more to the customer [by offering table service], because they’ll feel more comfortable and able to relax with the experience.”

There will be a DJ area situated near the downstairs bar, playing tunes to create a “chilled Ibiza sunset vibe” during the evenings.

Additional booth areas will be available for group bookings.

The upstairs bar area will be used daily as well as being available to hire for private functions. There will also be a private VIP room area available for booking.

Alongside the Copa brand, Joe Morris, is also opening a new Extra Time Sports Bar venue in the City Centre. This is set to open in June, providing sports fans with an American-style sports bar venue to watch their favourite late night games in.
