A unique dining experience situated just a stones’ throw from some of the city’s best nature spots, Lavang brings a decisively modern twist to traditional Indian cuisine for just over four years now.

Nestled away in the leafy suburb of Fulwood, Lavang offers a stylish and sophisticated retreat for those seeking high-quality Indian food in a laidback setting. The venue opened in February 2017, and it wasn’t long before they began to turn heads amongst foodies in the city for their innovative approach.

Lavang has been praised for its innovative take on traditional Indian cuisine

The Lavang management had this to say about the restaurant’s success: “We like to have a quality over quantity ethos; the focus is on fresh ingredients with our ever-evolving seasonal menu, brilliant customer service and providing a relaxed ambience for everyone to enjoy. We want to create a unique experience offering dishes people may not have tried in an Indian restaurant before.”

The menu serves up indulgent Indian dishes with a fine-dining twist, but without the pretentiousness often associated with the latter. Along with the exciting chef specials, their modern ethos is also reflected in the décor – from the clean, crisp interior to the sleek outdoor seating offering customers the option of some al fresco wining and dining.

Inside the sleek restaurant the focus is on fresh ingredients, brilliant customer service and providing a relaxed ambience for everyone to enjoy.

Location is another key selling point for the restaurant. It is no secret that Fulwood is one of the most sought-after areas in the city, bolstered by some fantastic local pubs and an enviable proximity to the rolling hills of the Peak District. Because of this Lavang offers the perfect dining destination for those “making a day of it” and tackling the many nearby walking routes and woodland trails.

It’s something the owners are particularly proud of, along with a guarantee to go a step further with the food on offer. “The scenery is beautiful around here, and we’re really close to local beauty spots like Forge Dam, Whiteley Woods, and of course The Peak District in general, so it’s perfectly placed for people looking for a great meal after a day trip.

An ever-changing seasonal menu ensures the food remains exciting, but customers can enjoy more traditional Indian cuisine if they’d prefer.

“There are some nice local places to drink nearby, and we’re a short journey from the city centre and Ecclesall Road too. As a venue, we make sure we can provide for any occasion and provide something a bit different to your average Indian restaurant – whether you’re eating in, hiring us for a special event or ordering a takeaway.”

The venue itself was designed so it could cater for a range of events and functions: business meetings, birthdays, wedding receptions, private hire and more. It’s all part of the highly personalised service that sets Lavang apart.

The outdoor dining area is particularly popular for drinks and dining al fresco on warm days.

So, when can you next visit? Good news is Lavang opens its terrace for al fresco dining and drinks from 14th April, with restaurant dining available from 19th May. In the meantime, you can order a takeaway or browse their recently opened store online at www.lavangsheffield.co.uk.
