A collection of rock ‘n’ roll photography previously held at Sheffield Arena is being rehomed and given to what is seen as the country’s first ‘dive bar’ outside of London- FirePit Rocks. This exhibition, including renowned home grown stars the Arctic Monkeys and Reverend and the Makers, will build on FirePit Rocks’ already extensive collection of sport and music memorabilia. Their hoard already includes a football shirt signed by the World Cup winning England star team of 1966.
Sheffield music photographer Glenn Ashley is the face behind the photographs, a prominent figure in his field who over the years has encapsulated a plethora of global top acts, including several of Sheffield’s leading artists. The official unveiling of the exhibit will take place fittingly at the venue’s first birthday party at its home on West Street on Friday 26th July.
Rick Bailey, owner of the dive bar, states: “We are honoured that Glenn Ashley picked us to house his amazing work. We pride ourselves in our iconic music and sporting memorabilia and we couldn’t ask for a more perfect first birthday present!”
FirePit Rocks offers up the classic American concept of a ‘dive bar’, with binge worthy BBQ food, live sport, music, and quizzes. Doesn’t sound like enough of a good night? Try their retro gaming or beer pong and come along to their jam nights!
