Now in its eleventh year, Tramlines has become a popular attraction for the city that sees more people rocking up for a weekend of explosive music every year. But with age, comes change, and this year is no exception as we see some notable additions to the much loved festival.
Eagle-eyed attendees will notice the expanded site area, including an all-new Speaker’s Corner curated by Sheffield’s poet laureate Otis Mensah, Tramline’s first lyrics and poetry stage dedicated to honest expression. Along with this new addition, there will also be a BBC Introducing slot showcasing six local Sheffield acts on the Library Stage.
The festival has also teamed up with Cutlery Works – Sheffield’s first food hall and the largest in Northern England – to provide the biggest foodie offering yet. Outside the Cutlery Works street food section, there will be more food outlets including Pie Minister, Get Wurst, The Gravy Train Poutine and Proove Pizza. With the most extensive assortment of food at the festival so far, there will be no reason for you to go hungry on this weekend.
You can chow down on your flavoursome feast whilst checking out Tramlines’ brand new app too, which allows you to access news, view the sitemap, explore the line-up and plan your time at the festival. You can use this app to explore the extended family-friendly offerings with all-new additions such as a mini beach and seaside stalls, kids comedy shows and animatronic dinosaurs.
Since last year, Tramlines Festival now features an excellent line-up of Britain’s (and beyond) finest comedians. From the situational humourists of the likes of Phil Jupitus and Shappi Khorsandi, to searingly honestly social issues comedy from Reginald D. Hunter, it’s by far and away the best comedy offering the festival has put together yet.
The most signicant change for this year’s festival is a new name for the main stage. As of this year, the likes of the Courteeners, Chic and Two Door Cinema Club will be headlining the Nulty’s Main Stage, in a tribute to festival’s late director who sadly passed away last year. New BeMoreNulty merch will be available on site and from Drop Dead’s website, with all proceeds going to Cavendish Cancer Care and Weston Park Cancer Charity.
