Launched last year, The Tramlines Trust is now ready to receive 2023 applications. Local charities, grassroots community organisations and projects are invited to apply to the Trust for grants of up to £500 (some projects may be eligible for up to £1,000). The deadline for applications is July 3rd 2023. In 2022 there were 42 successful requests who received a total of £30k with over £10k going to businesses directly benefiting Hillsborough including The Burton St Foundation, S6 Foodbank and Hillsborough Hornets Disability Football Club. Since 2018 Tramlines has raised £150k, in addition to supporting the Tramlines Trust this has also been donated to several causes.
The Tramlines Trust supports projects which sit within four key areas, such as Local Community, that relates to projects local to Sheffield which enhance, educate or support the local community. Future Generations area is focussed on supporting young people who would like to gain insight into the events and creative industries. People and Planet relates to projects that are involved in improving or raising awareness for issues like homelessness, environment, physical and mental health. South Yorkshire Art and Culture promotes the music, art and culture of the region. Successful applicants from 2022 are welcome to apply again in 2023.
The Tramlines Trust is part of ‘Tramlines in the Community’, a wider initiative that includes commitments to keeping the festival accessible, continuing to improve Hillsborough Park and supporting the Hillsborough community. In 2023 Tramlines is working with Tickets for Good. Tickets for Good is a Sheffield based national organisation that distributes free and discounted event tickets to NHS staff, medical students and charity workers. Eligible people can sign-up in advance of the Tramlines tickets being made available.

Clare Mappin, Managing Director from Burton Street Foundation, added: ‘Burton Street Foundation received a donation from Tramlines Trust in 2022 to purchase some new equipment for our Sensory Room. Burton Street works with adults 18 upwards and children from the age of 7 with learning and physical disabilities. Many of our clients love the time they spend in our Sensory Room. The donation we received last year was used for large bean bags and a big new bubble tube: items that lots of our clients use and enjoy. Tramlines Festival takes place from 21st – 23rd July at Hillsborough Park in Sheffield. Over five stages of music, comedy and performance, a family-friendly area packed with quirky things to do, the best festival food around, bespoke craft beer and ale, vintage clothes stores, and roaming entertainment, there’s a lot to love about the event. The 2022 festival was a sell-out so the advice is to be super quick for this last batch of Weekend tickets.
