Noel Gallagher is a man who needs no introduction. Headlining the Main Stage at Tramlines on Saturday night, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds blew the crowd away!
Whatever your opinion on Oasis and the Gallagher brothers, it has to be said that NG bloody well knows how to write a good song. And his songwriting talents didn’t stop with Oasis. After eight years and three albums, the HFB’s show no signs of stopping.
The set list offers up a combination of old and new, with a cover of ‘All You Need Is Love’ thrown in for good measure. From ‘Don’t Look Back In Anger’ to ‘Wonderwall’ and ‘If I Had A Gun’, every song is a belter than demands to be sung along to.
The highlight of the evening, for me, was the arrival of ‘Half The World Away’. Ever since the passing of Caroline Aherne (star of The Royle Family which the featured the song as its soundtrack) this song has had an added level of emotional nostalgia. Hearing the fans sing along to every word was a surreal moment.
Who thought that Noel Gallagher would be performing live in’t local park? Only Tramlines TEN could pull that out of the bag!
