With the hype around Kelham Island only getting bigger, and with even more new restaurants, bars and retail outlets planning to join the area, the team behind online area guide This Is Kelham have launched a handy app to allow visitors to get the most out of the city’s fastest-growing suburb.
Matt Pinder (a former intern at Exposed, no less!) launched This is Kelham back in 2017, then just an Instagram account to showcase the hive of activity beginning to take place around the area; but in due time it has grown to a website, Facebook page, Twitter account, and with the added assistance of fellow resident Josh Rowley who came onboard, now an app available on Apple and Android.
The app will feature all the usual collection of local news, reviews and events This Is Kelham delivers, but the exciting bit – for customers and businesses alike – lies in the exclusive offers and rewards scheme which they hope will continue to ensure Kelham Island’s businesses can thrive.
“We’re really excited about the potential of the loyalty card system with the app,” Josh explains. “Each purchase with a business that goes through the app will have a QR code, so when a purchase is made they will just have so scan a QR code and for a reward point. Roughly it’s about a month’s worth until you get your reward, which could be discounts or freebies.”
Also included in the app are various area guides covering everything from traditional pub crawls to arts heritage walks. “The Things to Do section is all location-based and split into categories, so if you wanted a drink in a dog-friendly pub, it will find one and show you how far away it is. There’s also a ‘Get Active’ tab to promote the yoga, climbing, skating, etc., that you can do here. Obviously, the Peak District is popular for those types of days out, but we want to show that Kelham can offer things like that too.”
The app is available to download now, nicely designed and very simple to manage. It’s already fast-becoming a handy tool for Team Exposed to decide on lunch and after-work drinks discussions, so if you’re a fan of the Kelham area, or just fancy taking a look at what it has to offer these days, we’d strongly suggest downloading via the App or Play Store and getting involved.
