There’s something happening in the disco world of the North of England…
Manchester’s biggest disco night is back again on Saturday November 24th, after a huge string of massive events at their home, Albert Hall. Boasting the biggest DJs and singers in disco, house and everything in-between, La Discothèque has now expanded to Leeds and Newcastle. With Evelyn Champagne King, Jocelyn Brown and Candi Staton amongst the names to have graced the Flamingo and Queens adorned stage, they can proudly call themselves one of the most ambitious disco events in the UK, if not the world.
Up next in Manchester is the one and only Kenny Dope (Masters at Work), the legendary New York DJ and producer. He’s joined by Amsterdam’s deep-house duo Detroit Swindle, as well as cosmic-disco pioneer Prins Thomas. This event’s PA is to be Pillowtalk (Live), a San Fransiscan trio who blend r’n’b and boogie for labels such as Visionquest and Wolf & Lamb.
If Leeds is closer for you Sheffield-ers then keep an eye out for La Discothèque’s equally blinding line ups at Canal Mills. Their next event is on Saturday December 1st, with Hot Chip’s Alexis Taylor headlining a huge bill with a special Prince set. He joins the infamous Studio 54 DJ Nicky Siano and Yorkshire’s PBR Streetgang.
