The Fringe at Tramlines returns for a second year on Sat 20 July and Sun 21 July 2019 following a hugely successful launch in 2018.
Sheffield city council, Sheffield BID and Tramlines Festival are working together to create a city centre hub, alongside the full festival’s offering down at Hillsborough Park. Last year’s event brought free outdoor entertainment at The Fringe Stage at Devonshire Green, an 80s/90s disco at The Peace Gardens, street performers in Barker’s Pool, a traditional funfair on Fargate and dozens of pubs, clubs and venues across the city centre featuring bands, DJs and performers across the weekend.
The Fringe Stage at Devonshire Green has been programmed by Papa Al of the JuJu Club (originally a Sheffield club night with live music from around the world), featuring the best ‘made in Sheffield’ acts with some international additions. Highlights include the big, brassy sound of Jungle Lion, the outlandish antics of latin music lovers Mango Rescue Team and homegrown rap talent from Medley. The One World Choir who are comprised of Sheffield-based asylum seekers and refugees will be performing too.
Alongside the outdoor stages, almost every pub, bar and venue across the city will be putting on a live programme of bands, DJs and live acts. Full details of this including line-ups and set times will be made available via the Fringe website hosted by us! We’ll be putting together a printed Fringe at Tramlines programme too, a free publication that will be distributed throughout the city in advance of the event. Timm Cleasby, Tramlines Festival head of operations, said: “It’s great to build on the progress made in 2018 with the return of The Fringe at Tramlines and I’m very glad that the city centre will be buzzing as ever over the Tramlines weekend. The Fringe at Tramlines branding really helps festival goers to work out what’s taking place over the weekend and how they can get involved.”
In addition to the Fringe at Tramlines, Tramlines Festival takes place at Hillsborough Park from Friday 19 to Sunday 21 July and features headliners Two Door Cinema Club, Courteeners and Chic with Nile Rodgers. An extremely limited number of weekend tickets and individual day tickets are still available. For the full line-up and ticketing info, visit tramlines.org.uk.
