Over the weekend of 21st-22nd July, popular Commonside locals The Closed Shop and Hallamshire House are teaming up to host a live music line-up from the highly-reputed Honey Bees Blues Club.
Live music will be taking place from early afternoon through to the evening across the two venues, with line-ups synchronised to avoid clashes or last-minute rushing.
Planning for the mini-festival has been underway for the last few months, and local artist Martin Bedford has booked a varied selection of acts for attendees to enjoy. The line-up includes the likes of Blood Red Roses, The Unscene, Chris Martin, Blast Lane, James Taplin & Mick Holmes and The Vegas Six, with Jody Davies and M&J Blues featured on the Sunday.
Sheffield-based Stancill Brewery, who own the Closed Shop, will be making a special brew for the event – ‘Honey Beer Blues Club’ – a summer-friendly tipple perfect for sunny afternoons. Homemade food will also be on offer from both venues over the weekend.
Hayley Mcphie, Manager at The Closed Shop, said: “In a time when local pubs often struggle to stay open when facing competition from big chains, we thought it would be great to work together and show what community spirit is all about. We’ve been working to create an entertainment line-up which offers something for everyone, to encourage the local community to come together. We didn’t want anyone to miss out, so we won’t be competing against each other when it comes to live music performances, on a weekend which has cemented itself at the heart of Sheffield’s social calendar.”
