Ploughing across the fields of Hertfordshire into its ninth year, Farr Festival is cementing itself as one of the best boutique dance festivals in the UK. With a fourth day added to this year’s edition and a line up representing the cutting edge of dance music in 2018, we’ve decided that it needed a full preview.
Set in Bygrave Woods, Hertfordshire, Farr Festival kicks off summer from July 5th – July 8th. The ethereal forest provides a beautiful setting for festival goers to leave their trials and tribulations at home for a weekend. A range of stages sit under the trees, each with its own unique identity. The festival, situated in an old orchard, offers unique live performances, scintillating DJ sets from across the musical spectrum, as well as activities such as talks, yoga and meditation allowing for moments of high energy euphoria and relaxing bliss. One thing’s for sure – punters won’t be short of things to entertain themselves with. This year’s line up shows that Farr’s organisers truly have their finger on the pulse of electronic music in 2018. Expect pulsating techno, free jazz, spacey dub and everything in between. With the likes of Tom Misch, Daphni, DJ Stingray, all the way through to Shy FX, the festival offers an eclectic range of the old and the new.
The addition of a fourth day to this year’s festival programme makes it the most comprehensive yet. The Sunday is described as “a day of dub, reggae, minimal and disco”, providing the perfect wind down from the weekend and a nice contrast to the high octane Thursday to Saturday. Eye-catching sets on the Sunday include Antal, Interstellar Funk and a 4-hour masterclass in minimal from Zip.
It isn’t a UK festival without pitching up a tent in a field and you can guarantee you’ll find yourself doing so here. Farr offers plenty of camping space, as well as ‘glamping’ options for those who want to come back to a comfy bed and a warm shower.
Tickets for Farr Festival are available here from £125.
