Día de los Muertos party – which means ‘day of the dead’ – returns to Leopold Square’s Cubana on Halloween this year.

The popular Mexican festival is a celebration of the lives of departed loved ones and is organised in association with the University of Sheffield’s Latin American and Hispanic societies. Expect salsa and Latin rhythms courtesy of DJ Jesh Husbeat (CUrITa) and DJ Roly Caballero.

Adrian Bagnoli, Cubana co-owner, said: “Día de los Muertos festival is renowned as a very happy occasion. We celebrate the departed with all the things they love – such as music, drinks and dancing.

“And if you don’t think you’re scary enough we’ve got a very talented face painter on hand to help you fit in!”

The free event starts at 9pm on Thursday, 31 October.
