Last month we had Abbeydale Picture House’s popular beer festival, and with summer fast approaching Sheffield is keen to get the liquor flowing. Here’s a few boozy events for you to get stuck into.
Sheffield Prosecco Festival – June 2nd-5th
Sheffield will be hosting its first ever Prosecco Festival during the first weekend of June! And there’ll be food to soak up some of that alcohol, too – pizza, sweet treats and brunch snacks, to name just a few. Interval Café Bar & Food is located on campus at the University of Sheffield and promises a night of indulgence and laughter, so get yourself down there and get supping!
Sheffield Gin Festival – May 27th-28th
Believe it or not, gin isn’t just something people drink – it’s also something they celebrate. This bank holiday weekend promises a unique sampling of gins from across our region, and all of this taking place at the O2 Academy in Sheffield city centre. You can also get your hands on some tasty street food while you’re there courtesy of Street Food Warehouse Sheffield. There’s the chance to take your celebrations from afternoon to night with a selection of special evening events, which you can find on your festival programme when you arrive.
Sheffield Rum Festival – June 24th
Set to delight our city for one day only, the rum and reggae night will run from 12pm-9pm at Sheffield’s Plug. Offering up a taster of some of the finest rums worldwide across South America, the USA, Cuba, the West Indies – not to mention live music from reggae and steel drum bands to get the party atmosphere flowing. You can chat to traders and distillers while you knock back some of their finest, and best of all – there will be free samples!
True North Gin Festival – June 9th – July 15th
The team at True North Brew Co are taking care of all your gin-based needs this summer with a festival taking place across four venues. Four separate events, which will feature over 50 gins to learn about, will take place throughout June and July at The British Oak, Mosborough; Blue Stoops, Dronfield; Crown & Anchor, Barnsley; and The Riverside, Kelham Island. Music, food and industry experts will be on-hand throughout the event and tickets are a mere £6, which includes a free welcome pack, a special glass and a gin book.
