There’s a busy few months ahead on the Thornbridge Estate with a packed line-up of events throughout February and March, including the launch of Thornbridge Smallholding’s “Meet the Animals”, the first Artisan Food Market, a Wedding Fayre, as well as a series of craftwork shops.

“We are excited about the next few months on the Estate and have put together a variety of events, workshops, and activities to suit a range of people and interests,” says Sophie Barberthe Estate’s Marketing Manager, “The launch of Thornbridge Smallholding’s new “Meet The Animals” area in time for half-term will be a brilliant day out for families looking for fun things to do in the area, and our first Artisan Food Market (3-5th March) celebrating local independent food and drink producers will include around 20 stalls, a Thornbridge Brewery bar, homemade goodies from the Thornbridge Estate Kitchen, and wine and gin tasting workshops”.

On Tuesday 28th February, there will be a talk in the Carriage House in tribute to Joseph Paxton, a notable Victorian Gardener, designer of hothouses; and MP. David Adams, an experienced Thornbridge Estate tour guide, will be hosting the event. In this hour-long talk, David will share a deeper insight into the life of this prominent Victorian and his link to the Thornbridge Estate.

For those interested in arts and crafts, there are several classes that are now available to book online, including a Macrame workshop, an Estate-inspired botanical lino printing class, a Spring wreath workshop, and a series of Mandala Creation workshops. For dog lovers, the Dog-Life Drawing Class on 24th February in Quackers cafe might be right up your street.

The Artisan Market will take part between March 3rd and 5th. A celebration of local independent producers will take place in the Carriage House and courtyard. There will be 20 stalls offering a large range of food and drink to buy from the Peak District and surrounding areas.

Thornbridge Brewery bar will be slinging out fresh pints all weekend. If wine or gin is more your thing, tasting sessions with Locksley Distilling Co and Hattersley Wines can be booked in advance. To celebrate this special occasion, Thornbridge Estate Gin will be launched in partnership with Locksley Distilling Co.

The Carriage House Bar will also be serving a selection of hot and cold drinks as well as wine, spirits, and draught beer. Thornbridge Smallholding will be serving bacon and sausage butties all weekend and have a hog roasting for hot pork sandwiches on Saturday.

The Thornbridge Estate has been a luxury wedding venue for many years, but this year sees its first Wedding Fair on Sunday 12th March. Showcasing the enchanting venue, a number of local wedding suppliers will also be attending: bridal and men’s wear, wedding confectionery, vintage cars, photographers, and many more. Future brides and grooms are invited to visit for free and can register via the website.
