The prospect of hanging around the house with your, shall we say, restless young’uns (but beloved, of course) is frightening.
Fret not though, dear reader, as there’s a load of events in Sheff suitable for yourself and the kids. Here’s our pick of the bunch…
CREATIVE FAMILY @ ABBEYDALE INDUSTRIAL HAMLET
Grown-ups and children alike can enjoy exploring different materials in this weekly series of creative workshops, led by different members of the learning team.
FOOD @ AMBULO
Pick from either the Millennium Gallery or the Weston Park Museum site and enjoy an all-day cafe with a menu that specialises in bites for the whole family.
CRAFTS @ MILLENNIUM GALLERY
Speaking of Weston Park, there’s a full programme of events on during the summer. Our top shout is the session where kids are encouraged to celebrate the arrival of the Jessica Ennis-Hill portrait at Weston Park Museum by crafting a trophy. Takes place on 1 August 2019 between 12:00pm and 3:00pm, a suggested £2 donation is welcomed.
INVENTION STATION @ KELHAM ISLAND MUSEUM
From mega machines to mini models, be inspired by Sheffield’s industrial story to build, design and experiment at Kelham Island Museum. Full list of themes and dates here.
HERITAGE WORKSHOPS @ ABBEYDALE INDUSTRIAL HAMLET
Industry meets nature at the Hamlet – the perfect setting for families to make and create together. Admire the Hamlet’s Victorian Garden, use the art of decoupage to decorate a plant pot or follow in Benjamin Huntsman’s footsteps by designing your own clock.
