Opening your own restaurant is not an easy task but having a developing business plan and a checklist gives you the best chance to succeed. You need to consider all options to make your business venture a success and see your dream come true.

Of course, the most important part is to carefully think what kind of restaurant you want to build, what is the customer category you are focusing on and what achievements help you thrive. Besides, after having your budget cleared, choosing the right location, and investing in the right equipment, you need to think about how to develop a food and beverage menu, how to present your products and make your customers’ experiences memorable.

It is recommended to develop and have an original logo which represents your brand the best. The menu should be designed with elements and colours that attract customers’ attention and make the products as appealing as possible. This concept, which is part of the marketing strategy, does not have to be made only for the food and beverage program, but it could personalize and highlight other products like napkins, placemats, or table talkers and eventually, your own wine bottles. Because no matter what kind of concept you choose, wine should not be missing from your menu and the customers will, very often, end up ordering it.

Drinking wine is not considered as a special event in our lives anymore, if we think wine is one of the oldest beverages in the world. But wine is not like any other beverage and the popularity is not only influenced by name or location, but it’s label plays an important role when choosing a bottle. To fully appreciate it, we should spend some time reading its label. Here are five things you should find on a wine label, to enjoy it fully… or to never choose it again!

  • Understanding Wine

The label on a bottle, created with a unique design and quality elements, contains and communicates important and personalized information about the wine. In most of the cases, the label can help consumers determine which bottles of wine they should choose in the future, according to their taste. The elements combined on the label are a sign of quality, can attract the buyer and offer him confidence. Here is a brief description of the five elements one needs to read on a bottle:

  • Name of the wine and it’s producer

The producer’s name is the most important part: simply because it is the company’s brand, and the customer will be guided by it; the identity of the house that produces the wine is very important. If the customer discovers and likes that very special bottle of wine, he will keep the name of the producer in mind and he will, for sure, try the same or another one from their production.

  • Country of origin

In case you are not offering your own wine in the restaurant, the information about the country and the region it comes from is another thing the customer is interested in. Of course, French, Spanish, or Italian wines are the most famous, but there are good and bad wines, from all over the world. Happily, most of the time the customers know what they like most and which wine they prefer.

  • Variety of grape

Although we should not consider all wine as good wine, the grapes it is made from is, for sure, one of the most distinctive traits of the product. Some people will end-up as Merlot lovers, while others will prefer a Cabernet. But each bottle using the same kind of grapes will still have different flavours that will distinguish it. The label of a good quality wine bottle should consider informing the consumer about the sort or mix of grapes the wine is produced of.

  • Year of production

This information is useful to wine lovers who are familiar with different types of wine and know what and why to choose a certain product. Some years produce better vintages than others, for a given region or weather situation. Therefore, if you want a high-quality wine, look for them or ask the specialist for recommendations.

  • Alcohol percentage

That is the clearest indication you will find on a bottle of wine. It always indicates the precise percentage of alcohol that the wine contains. It is up to the customer to decide what is best and how much alcohol his body tolerates. However, keep in mind that it does make a difference on the taste of the wine, as well.

The quality of the label is an important issue each wine producer should consider. Together with the menu, it is the business card of the winery or restaurant; therefore, it should be made of good materials, resistant to different temperature changes and it should remain in a good shape after transportation and, eventually, distribution. Not only the wine labels, but also the menu should avoid poor colour choices, and think about the visual contact and impression. Afterall, those items reflect your brand’s philosophy, history, and personality.
