If the weekend is passing by and there is nothing to answer the question “What did you do all day?” – here is a ready-made list with ten ideas. So, on your next free weekend you can.

  1. Go for a walk on an unfamiliar route

No matter with whom and where you go – to the nearest park, forest or reserve – get out of the house! The change from work-home-work will reduce stress, while the fresh air will invigorate and energize you, revitalizing and strengthening your entire body. Before going out, charge your smartphone, take warm clothes and a plaid and thermos – pause during your walk, stop and breathe with your whole chest, without rushing anywhere!

  1. Play a favorite or new game.

 If you are alone, you can find a large number of online communities to play with, such as free slots for fun. Or any single-player game. You can invite your friends online or get together at home and play.

3. Read a book all day

If you don’t feel like leaving the house after all, take a trip with the help of books. Passionate reading is like a long meditation and will help you slow down and take your mind off the hustle and bustle.

If you’re weaned on books and doubt you can handle a whole book, just start. Take a closer look at new books, remember the recommendations of friends, open a book of childhood or youth, read a collection of poems or look at the illustrations of a graphic novel.

Reading books, too, can be done in different ways: for example, turn on the audio version of the book under a monotonous activity, arrange a joint reading aloud with a loved one. Or, finally, watch the movie adaptation to compare your impressions of the book – and you will always have something to discuss.

  1. Cook dinner together

Invite your loved ones to have a delicious meal around the same table! Even if you rarely cook, this is a great way to get everyone together and laugh about the process. Have a cooking battle among friends and family or a creative competition for the most delicious dish – and may friendship win! Try to prepare a dish from a new recipe or repeat your favorite taste of childhood! If you don’t feel like cooking, take a cooler bag, pop to the supermarket and go on a picnic!

  1. Watch an inspiring movie

If you want to experience a new take on a familiar leisure activity, choose a nature documentary, a kind animated movie, or a family movie with a good ending. Set the mood before you watch: set the place up, choose snacks, set the lights and sound.

For one such evening, we recommend an hour and a half journey through the amazing places of the planet, filmed on 70mm film, called “Samsara” or the feature film “The Incredible Adventures of Walter Mitty” – a story about how it’s never too late to be brave and start a new life.

  1. Take a round trip.

It’s hard to believe that a hundred years ago, traveling to other cities could take weeks or even months. Today we have access to trains and airplanes, making it possible to be in a new place and back in a couple of days.

Turn your weekend into a little adventure! There’s no need to go far away, you can limit yourself to traveling through neighboring cities or even your own – discover new places and districts, remember their history, take a guidebook, and be a curious tourist by driving a stop or two.

  1. Arrange a cultural program 

Often to visit a theater or museum people wait for a special occasion – a holiday or a trip to another city.

Look at the city playbill – autumn and winter is the height of the theater season, so the program should have a lot of interesting performances. Or go to the museum – to see the just opened exhibition or permanent exposition.

Before planning such an event, see if the museum participates in a special program for visitors – so you can save on tickets, listen to a unique tour or see rare exhibits!

  1. Make the world a little better

Good deeds also energize, fill your life with bright impressions and the feeling that the day is not wasted. Help the planet, a city or a person – become a volunteer and give support to those who need it. Or help your home and family members – organize a marathon of good deeds for each other!

  1. Furnish your home

The weekend is a great time to add some coziness to your favorite home. Nail up a new shelf, change the curtains, print and frame photos or create something fun as a family! If you have to resort to using loud machinery or a hammer – remember those who decided to sleep in over the weekend.

10. Go fishing

You could just head to the nearest river or pond. After all, the catch in fishing is not always the main thing. As Neil Gaiman said: “You don’t go fishing for fish, but for peace of mind”.

  1. Discover talents

What did you want to be when you were a child? Recall your dreams, and start making them a reality. There are many courses available today that can help you develop your talents from scratch at any age. Sign up for a master class, an amateur section or studio, find a hobby club or develop your abilities on your own with the help of the Internet. Memorize and capture your first successes – one day you won’t believe how it all started!
