If there is one show that is outrageously funny despite several inappropriate jokes, it has to be The Office. Based on a UK show created by Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, The Office portrays the lives of employees of a fictional firm called Dunder Mifflin.

While all the characters have their own unique personalities, Michael Scott is by far the most loved by fans all over. He has a unique sense of humour that often irritates his employees, but at the end of the day, he truly is the world’s best boss.

Moreover, a lot of people agree that the show would not have been such a huge hit had it not been for Michael. The character, played by Steve Carell, often gets involved in some exceptionally comical situations.

Let’s take a look at some of Michael Scott’s funniest moments on the show.

5 Funniest Michael Scott Moments

  1. Koi Pond (Season 6, Episode 8)

Jim lands a meeting with a big client who requests that Michael come along. Michael continuously gloats about it which annoys Jim. Unfortunately for Michael, he falls into a koi pond on their way back and is completely soaked.

The rest of the office makes fun of him as they find CCTV footage of him slipping up. Michael then holds a “sensitivity training” where he asks everyone to make a list of things nobody should make fun of. Jim advises him to simply mock himself so everyone else stops, but Michael takes it way too far.

With many classic Michael Scott moments, this episode takes the win for one of the funniest Office episodes. Although, it is a mystery how Michael made such a big splash over the noise of the air pump in the koi pond.

  1. Golden Ticket (Season 5, Episode 19)

If there is something Michael is known for, it has to be the number of mishaps he contributes to. A golden ticket is often a common marketing tactic encouraging you to buy products and win a gift if you find a golden ticket.

It was commonly done with chocolate products for kids, where you could win beautiful gifts like kenji plushies, some merchandise or more chocolate. Michael adopted this tactic by hiding five golden tickets, offering a ten percent discount, in five boxes of paper.

However, he fails to check who the boxes are being shipped to. His plan ultimately backfires when one company receives all five tickets and expects to receive a 50% discount on their order.

  1. Scott’s Tots (Season 6, Episode 12)

If you ask any Office fan, they will tell you that Scott’s Tots is not just the best Michael Scott episode, it is simply one of the best episodes on the show. It is the height of hilarity which will make you cringe just as much as you laugh.

The episode shows us that Michael made a promise to a bunch of underprivileged children that he’d pay for their college tuition. The only condition was that they would have to graduate. While he intended to keep them away from drugs and crime, he was not expecting his financial situation to be where it is.

The children, who call themselves “Scott’s Tots” throw him a huge thank you party. Instead of being honest with them about breaking his promise, he drags through the entire charade before finally confessing and disappointing them all.

  1. Dinner Party (Season 4, Episode 13)

This episode has to be one of the most hilarious ones on the show. It is also a testament to the amazing acting skills of Steve Carell. It shows Michael living with his girlfriend and former boss, Jan Levinson.

As he is finally in a relationship, he invites Jim and Pam for dinner. However, dinner isn’t ready and while they are showing everyone around, Michael and Jan argue a lot. It gives you a peek into their toxic relationship while making sure you’re laughing.

Michael spends the night trying to get everyone to invest in Jan’s candle-making business, which eventually leads to a heated argument between them.

  1. The Convict (Season 3, Episode 9)

This is one of the best episodes on the show that fans still deeply love. Not only that, but it is also still referenced a lot in pop culture. The episode is a perfect depiction of Michael’s poorly executed plans.

Michael learns that an employee who recently joined them has a prison record and that he enjoyed his time in prison. Michael makes it his mission to prove to everyone that an office is better than prison. He plays the beloved character, “Prison Mike” and annoys everyone until they agree with him.

To Sum Up

The Office has gone down in history as one of the most hilarious and legendary shows. While many characters have contributed to its success, Michael Scott takes away the prize.

With his quirky, annoying yet wholesome personality, he crawls his way into your heart and makes sure you fall in love with the show. Any Office fan would agree that without Michael Scott, nothing about the show would be the same.
