If you think Nottingham is a boring city, think again. The city has so much to offer, from great restaurants and cuisines to sample, to museums and performances waiting to be enjoyed. Nottingham is even more fascinating at night with its vibrant nightlife and plenty of things to do afterwards.

Of course, Nottingham is also famous for its universities and its population of more than 50,000 students living in the city. In this article, we are going to take a closer look at the exciting things to do if you are a student in Nottingham. Let’s get started!

The Broadway Cinema

You cannot spend time in the city of Nottingham without giving The Broadway Cinema a try. As the name suggests, this is an independent cinema where some of the best movies are screened. The Broadway Cinema has a huge following.

This is the place to be if you love movies and cinematography. You can do more than watch the best movies of all time; you can meet fellow movie-lovers and have vivid discussions about everything from scripts to visuals.

Nottingham Beer Festival

This October event is a particularly popular gathering among students. In fact, students from other cities visit Nottingham for the Nottingham Beer Festival. There are more than 1,000 craft beers to try and plenty of street food to sample.

The Nottingham Beer Festival also hosts live music performances. The event is held at Nottingham Castle every year. Find the right spot and you will also have the opportunity to enjoy the city’s beautiful sunset while having a pint.

Pitcher & Piano

Speaking of having a pint, there is a legendary bar in Nottingham called Pitcher & Piano. This too is a must-visit if you are studying in Nottingham. Students from around the city gather at Pitcher & Piano to have discussions over pints of beer.

It serves great food too; try the P&P, Pitcher & Piano’s signature burger, and you will have one of the best meals of your life. The vegetarian Hummus Tostadas is another meal you want to sample while visiting this place.

Great Universities

As a city of more than 50,000 students, Nottingham has some of the most beautiful universities and schools in the country. A mixture of modern architecture and classic design lines, universities in Nottingham are always fascinating to visit.

Nottingham Trent is one of the best in the country not just because of its remarkable programs, but also because of its unique architecture. The university combines older structures with modern, newer ones to create the perfect environment for studying. Wollaton Hall, Gardens, and Deer Park

Not too far from Nottingham Trent University, you can find the Wollaton Hall, Gardens, and Deer Park. The gardens here are beautiful and relaxing at the same time. This is a fantastic place to visit if you are looking for some quiet alone time.

Wollaton Deer Park lets you get really close to the majestic creature. There is a museum that you can explore, but the best thing to do at Wollaton Hall, Gardens, and Deer Park is have a picnic with some close friends. The gardens are beautiful all year round.

Highfields Lake

Highfields Lake is very similar to Wollaton Hall, but it is located closer to Nottingham University. There is a beautiful lake offering the perfect setting for a picnic or a relaxing walk. The park itself is incredibly beautiful too.

Highfields Lake is perfect for when you want to enjoy a nice summer’s day with friends. Bring a book and some food to eat, and you are all set for a lovely day. Students working on assignments or discussing course materials are common here.

Jam Café

You never know what you will find at Jam Café. As the name suggests, this is a place where anyone – and we do mean ANYONE – can, well, jam. You will come across some magical jazz performances, a combination of poetry and EDM, and open mic nights that you will remember for years to come.

You too can be a part of the excitement. If you want to explore your musical side or you just want to perform art, find out about the next open mic or jam session and bring your best performance to the place. You might get a few fans by the end of the night.

City of Caves Tour

Nottingham has a secret: it has caves right beneath the city. There are over 400 caves and the best way to explore them is by taking the City of Caves tour. Of course, you can also explore the caves yourself by visiting the Malt Cross and starting your adventure from there.
