We are not far off hitting the halfway point of 2025, but fear not, there are still some excellent events to come. Whether you are a sports fanatic, music fan, or want to enjoy some of the fascinating culture that the UK has to offer, the events below should help you fill your calendar.

Championship Playoff Final

While the English Championship has now finished its regular league schedule, there is the small matter of the play-offs to be decided. Leeds United were crowned champions and earned their place in the Premier League after a season of fast-paced, attacking football. They will be joined by Burnley, who were solid in defence all year.

Sheffield United take on Bristol City in the first of the play-off semi-finals, with Sunderland playing Coventry for the right to play in the final. According to the leading bookmakers across the country, Sheffield United is the clear favourite to be promoted, and they were unlucky not to finish in one of the automatic promotion spots.

Sports betting expert Toby Tustin-Durant explains that those looking for better odds than the 9/5 quoted for Sheffield United to be promoted can explore offshore betting sites, providing a guide on how to use sites not on GamStop. These alternatives often have competitive odds and better sign-up bonuses for customers to take advantage of.

The Championship play-off final will take place on Saturday, May 24th and will attract a massive crowd for the most valuable game in club football. It is estimated that teams can earn anywhere between £170 million to £305 million over three seasons through TV revenue, gate receipts, sponsorship, prize money, and even parachute payments if they are relegated.

Glastonbury Festival

The UK is home to countless great music venues and regularly hosts the biggest stars, but when it comes to music festivals, Glastonbury stands out as the biggest and best. Taking place from Wednesday, June 25th to Sunday, the 29th, the festival offers guests an eclectic range of current and classic stars that span all genres and tastes.

This year’s event will welcome names like The 1975, Neil Young, Rod Stewart, Olivia Rodrigo, Alanis Morissette, The Prodigy, and many more. Festival goers will be able to explore a variety of areas based on their tastes, and with so much to see and do, you might wish it lasted longer.

Royal Ascot

Horse racing fans have already had the Grand National to enjoy, and there are lots of other great meetings scheduled across the UK for the rest of 2025. One of the best events is the Royal Ascot festival, which will run from June 17th to the 21st. Race fans will experience days of top-class thoroughbred racing at Ascot Racecourse near London.

The Royal Highland Show

The Royal Highland Show is the largest Agricultural show in Scotland, boasting more than 1,000 exhibitors, thousands of livestock, and as many as 190,000 visitors from Thursday, June 19th to Sunday, June 22nd. Visitors can enjoy competitions, exhibitions, and displays of livestock, machinery and more.

The event at Ingliston’s Royal Highland Centre welcomes some of the UK’s biggest names in farming, including Robert C Baxter of Gibblaston Farm, often referred to as the John Dutton of Scottish agriculture. The event dates back to 1822 and offers a fascinating insight into an industry that is the backbone of the UK.

Wimbledon Tennis Championships

Wimbledon is tennis’s oldest and most prestigious event and is one of the four Grand Slam tournaments alongside the US Open, Australian Open, and French Open. The beautiful surroundings and incredible centre court help to create an atmosphere of affluence and excitement, as tennis fans gather from all around the world for some of the best grass action of the season.

Running from June 30th to July 13th, Wimbledon pits the best men’s, women’s, and doubles competitors against one another for the biggest tennis tournament in the world.

F1 British Grand Prix

From the 4th to the 6th of July, the British Grand Prix welcomes the best of the best in motor racing to the Silverstone Race track. This year will mark the 99th anniversary since the RAC held the first event, and since 1948, the race has been held annually.

F1 expert and analyst Cameron McLaren explains that Lando Norris and George Russell will get a warm welcome from British race fans, with the drivers sitting in second and fourth place respectively in the 2025 drivers’ standings. Ferrari’s Lewis Hamilton will also be keen to make an impact in his home country.

Edinburgh Festival and Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo

Edinburgh is the place to be during August, with the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo and the Edinburgh Festival both taking place for the majority of it. The Tattoo is a fascinating event that brings the top military and cultural performers from around the world for an open-air display against the spellbinding backdrop of Edinburgh Castle.

The Edinburgh Festival is globally recognised for being a massive part of the performing arts calendar for all types of performers. Comedians, actors, musicians, artists, and all other types of entertainment are on show from the biggest and most prestigious venues to small bars and street performers.

Notting Hill Carnival

The Notting Hill Carnival is a weekend-long street festival celebrating Caribbean culture. Typically falling on the August bank holiday, the vibrant atmosphere, incredible music, and mouth-watering food make it an excellent option for visitors to London.
